The Best places to Dine
The Best places to Dine in Waxahachie and Ellis County. You will not find every restaurant or fast food establishment in Ellis County listed or even mentioned in this section. But, you will find the ones we feel are the ones which offer the best food and service. As you probably have learned, not all restaurants are equal!
342 Bar and Grill - Red Oak
342 Bar and Grill - Hwy 342 Red Oak, Texas - We must admit, the Texas Ribeye is our favorite here. These people know how to grill steaks. The steaks arrived at the table cooked to perfection. Generous accompanying salads were crisp, fresh and included cucumber, sliced tomato and croutons. A hot loaf of wheat bread is brought to the table with the salads.

Gunbarrel BBQ is probably one of the best-kept secrets in Waxahachie and the historic downtown area. It is located on the corner of Hwy 77 and Howard road, which is just south of the Waxahachie City hall on South Rogers street.
We have been informed that The College Street Pub is now a Smoke Free Restaurant. Smoking will be allowed outside on the patio and balcony. And a new restaurant review will be added shortly Located at 210 N College Street, this is one of our favorite places. Great food. My personal favorite is the Reuben.
Drive by Jimmy's Pizza and Subs located at the corner of Main and 8th streets in Midlothian on any Friday or Saturday Night and you will see this quaint little restaurant packed. There is a reason! The pizza, subs and Italian foods are excellent.
Review The Catfish Plantation - When the Catfish Plantation Restaurant in Waxahachie, Texas is mentioned, the first thing people usually ask is "that's the haunted restaurant, isn't it?" Yes, it is. It is known far and wide in that realm. However, we locals know they have the best catfish around.
What keeps customers coming back to a restaurant? Consistency, fresh food, lots of great selections, friendly staff, and cleanliness. All of these qualities describe Buffet City, located on Hwy 77 in Waxahachie.
