Gunbarrel BBQ is probably one of the best-kept secrets in Waxahachie and the historic downtown area. It is located on the corner of Hwy 77 and Howard road, which is just south of the Waxahachie City hall on South Rogers street. It is housed in a small red building and serves some of the best BBQ you can find in Waxahachie or for Ellis County for that matter. The BBQ is slow cooked on site the old fashioned way, over wood.  I have had the sliced beef, sausage and chopped beef sandwiches and they are all excellent. The meat is cooked to perfection and is delicious. My preference is the sliced beef.

For being a small restaurant they have a very nice selection entrées on their men. You can get sandwiches, plates and meat by the pound. Your options on sides are Beans, potatoes salad or Cole slaw.

I personally enjoy stopping by at lunch time and grabbing a sandwich and eating right there in their outside dining area. It is great on a nice cool sunny spring day! I know many people in Waxahachie remember Happy's Hamburger stand, which also served up some very good food in another time.  Well Gunbarrel BBQ has that same unique feeling and is a welcome change at times to standard restaurant fare.
