Old Town Village Antiques
Old Town Village Antiques and Uniques, a three-story antiques and gifts mall located at 307 S. Rogers, is just a couple of blocks south of the Ellis County Courthouse. Housed in an 1890's era J.C.Penney's store, this location is built on the site of another earlier unknown business and reportedly next door was once a bordello.
Both vendors and customers have reportedly encountered entities in the store or, having heard voices, upon investigating have found no one.
Activity seems especially high on the third floor of the structure. Once a customer known to possess psychic abilities asked the manager if anyone had told her that a benevolent presence was on the third floor. The manager said several people had said they felt someone near them while up there.
On several occasions items would be moved around overnight. One vendor was working in her space and was sure she heard the voices of several men talking loudly. She had not heard them come in so, being curious, went to see if she could assist them. When she got to the area where the voices were heard, she was surprised to find no one. When she asked the manager up front about the men, the manager said there had been no men in the store that day.
There have been so many occurrences of paranormal activity in the store that the manager and vendors have accepted it as part of doing business in an old historic building. The manager says as long as they don't hurt anyone she is okay with them being around. Who knows, this may give a new meaning to the
term "secret shopper!"
